Because barbecue is best. Our favourite way to cook and eat; it is elemental, smoky, natural – and no other cooking method comes close. When we aren’t teaching barbecue classes we were normally found in front of a fire.
WHO
London Barbecue School is run by Alastair, helped by a team of fire cooking professionals. You can read all about our tutors here.
WHERE
Peckham. Literally underneath Peckham Rye Station. You may even have spotted us from the trains at Platform 2.
Our venue is not like traditional cookery schools. Firstly, we do most of our cooking outside, albeit covered by an awning so you stay warm and dry whatever the weather. We run the school in a railway arch and cobbled courtyard, and use as much repurposed and recycled equipment and furniture as possible, giving the school has a homely, festival vibe.
The school might look unusual but we still maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, health and hygiene. Here’s how to find us.
EQUIPMENT
Our barbecue cookery classes are taught using Kamado Joe ceramic barbecues (like a Big Green Egg), ProQ smokers and Weber kettle barbecues. Some classes are dedicated to a particular type of barbecue, others use all the barbecues (though you can request to use a particular model).
